Browse high achievers โWhy this is accurate
- Official scaling, four years of it. All ~95 scored studies from each VTAC scaling report, interpolated between the published anchor points. Prior-year study scores are scaled with the report of the year you completed them โ exactly as VTAC does.
- Official ATAR conversion. The complete 2025 Aggregate โ ATAR table at 0.05 resolution โ your aggregate is looked up, never approximated.
- Real aggregation rules. Best English in the primary four, next three highest, 10% increments for a 5th and 6th study, and VTAC's study-area limits โ solved exhaustively so the best permissible combination is always found.
- Every Victorian school. The SAC estimator can adjust for your school using the official VCAA senior-secondary achievement data (607 schools), approximating statistical moderation.
The honest caveat: next year's scaling is published only after exams, so current-year estimates use the latest report. SAC estimates depend on moderation and ranking no public tool can fully know. Treat results as a well-informed guide.
Frequently asked questions
How is the ATAR calculated in Victoria?
Your VCE study scores are scaled by VTAC, then your aggregate is the sum of your best English plus your next three highest scaled scores, plus 10% of a fifth and sixth study. That aggregate is converted to an ATAR using VTAC's official table. The ATAR calculator performs each of these steps with the official 2025 data.
What is VCE subject scaling?
Scaling adjusts each subject's study scores so they can be fairly compared across the state. Competitive subjects such as Specialist Mathematics scale up, while others scale down. ATARtools uses the official VTAC scaling reports for 2022 to 2025 โ explore them in the scaling explorer.
Is the ATARtools ATAR calculator accurate?
It uses the official VTAC scaling report and the full aggregate-to-ATAR table, applying VTAC's real aggregation rules. Estimates for the current year use the latest published scaling, since next year's scaling is only released after exams.
Is ATARtools free?
Yes. Every tool is free with no sign-up, and all your data stays in your browser โ nothing is uploaded anywhere.
